Recommendation: Long, long ago before LotR, I read het fanfiction and had no idea what slash was (I thought is was gory or violent stories like slasher films and I didn’t want to read that.) Then came Peter Jackson’s magnum opus. As I already knew that I didn’t care for OCs and self inserts, I tried the stories with pairings between the male protagonists and I was hooked. Frodo and his Sam was one of the first because let’s admit, it was all really rather gay. I like this particular story, one because I like the thought of a little elven magic in the Shire and two, because it treats Rosie kindly even though she and Sam don’t work out.
