Title: Mercy of the Fallen (The AirDrop Security Update 2.0)
Canon: X-Men (Filmverse)
Pairing: Erik Lehnsherr/Charles Xavier
Rating: Teen [PG]
Word Count: 16,136
Summary: Erik Lehnsherr feels defined by his past sins and after years of acting against his own moral compass, he’s finally struck out on his own. He’s his own boss now and determined to work hard to help the mutant community and make up for years of doing someone else’s dirty work. Complicating this is Charles Xavier, mutant advocate, genetics professor, unfairly attractive telepath, and owner of the coffee shop below Erik’s office. Erik may not think he deserves to be a part of the community he’s thrown himself into helping, but Charles has other ideas on the matter, and he’s determined to do everything in his power to make Erik see himself as a force for good.
Recommendation: All pairings of ten or more stories about them (and even sometimes with fewer) have a Coffee Shop AU, I do believe it’s some sort of law or something. What I like best about this coffee shop AU is that everyone is still a mutant just not as traumatized. While it’s trope-y goodness, I still think the author managed to bring good, solid characterization to the table. Really lovely.
