It didn’t matter if Diefenbaker’s eyes tracked a shadow that Fraser couldn’t see, a shadow that seemed to dance soundlessly across the uneven panels of wood that made the humble cabin’s floor.

Recommendation: This was breaking my heart, but I promise a happy ending. The last little bit was a really nice touch as well.
